Comprehensive Exam
A complete exam for eye and visual health.
Routine eye exams are important, no matter your age or physical health, and go beyond just testing your vision. During a comprehensive eye exam, we'll check your eyes for common diseases or concerns, and as an indicator of overall physical health. You may also receive a prescription for eyeglasses (if you need them).

This thorough exam may include tests to examine the quality of your vision; these tests may range from simple (like reading a chart), to more complex scans that takes images of the structures in the eye (like digital retinal imaging).
How often should you have an eye exam?
How often you have your eyes and vision checked depends on a few things.

For those with no pre-existing concerns, and those under the age of 40, every two years may be a good frequency.

For those with a pre-existing condition (like diabetes or hypertension), or are over the age of 40, we recommend every year to screen for common age-related issues such as cataracts or macular degeneration.

Ultimately, each patient is an individual, so frequency unique to you may be suggested based on the results of a test or scan, family history, or risk factors.
NOTE: WE BILL DIRECTLY THROUGH HEALTH INSURANCE; MANY PLANS INCLUDE A ROUTINE EXAM EVERY CALENDAR YEAR, OR EVERY 12-24 MONTHS. AS OF 2021 WE NO LONGER ACCEPT VISION PLANS BUT CAN GIVE RECEIPTS FOR REIMBUSEMENT.
